Japanese car manufacturer Honda has begun the first commercial production of a zero-emission, hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle.
The four-seater, called FCX Clarity, runs on hydrogen and electricity, and emits water vapour.
Honda claims the vehicle offers three times better fuel efficiency than a traditional, petrol-powered car. Honda plans to produce 200 of the cars, which are initially available only to lease, over the next three years. One of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of wider adoption of fuel-cell vehicles is the lack of hydrogen fuelling stations.
The first five customers are all based in southern California because of the proximity of hydrogen fuelling stations, Honda said. US actress Jamie Lee Curtis will be among the first to take delivery of the vehicle, the firm added.
As Nepal celebrates becoming the newest republic in the planet, most of us are oblivious to the discussions taking place around the world regarding our country. That is not because we don’t care what the world has to say about us, but I believe that is because we hardly understand what the world thinks about Nepal. And more importantly we find it very difficult to make the world understand our nation and our culture. We don’t have a Hugo Chavez amongst our leaders who can boldly take center stage in the world arena and let the world know what Nepal thinks about them and what the world needs to know about Nepal (not that we need Chavez, but an articulate and charismatic leader would be nice for our PR). Just take a look at a discussion taking place regarding Nepal in BBC’s website (which in many ways represents a microcosm of discussions raging around the world regarding Nepal). So many comments that have been posted here, are filled with ignorance and travesty. These people hardly understand our country, but they think they know everything. And there are very few Nepali souls to tell them otherwise.
Barring any extraordinary event (although can't imagine any such event now), the king will be saying goodbye to his Narayanhiti palace for once and for all in the coming days. I've found a very good cartoon depicting the same from www.rajeshkc.com. Hope you guys like it.

An Indian student's letter back home to his brother about his arrival in America.
Taken from Rajiv's website (www.rajiv.com)
Dear brother,
Greetings to respectful parents. I am hoping all is well with health and wealth. I am fine at my end. Hoping your end is fine too. With God's grace and parents' blessings I am arriving safely in America and finding good apartment near University. Kindly assure mother that I am strictly consuming vegetarian food only in restaurants though I am not knowing if cooks are Brahmins. I hope parents' prayers are residing with me.
Younger brother, I am having so many things to tell you that I am not knowing where to sart. Most surprising thing about America is it is full of Americans. Everywhere Americans, Americans, big and white, it is little frightening. The flight from New Delhi to New York is arriving safely thanks to God's grace and Parents' prayers and mine too. I am not able to go to bathroom whole time because I am sitting in corner seat as per revered grandmother's wish. Father is rightly scolding that airplane is flying too high to have good view. Still please tell her I have done needful.
When you get what you want in your struggle for self And the world makes you king for a day, Just go to a mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or wife Whose judgment upon you must pass, The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you're a straight-shootin' guy And call you a wonderful guy. But the man in the glass says you're only a bum If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest For he's with you clear to the end. And you've passed your most dangerous test If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartache and tears If you've cheated the man in the glass.
Hello Everyone. I'm back. Ha ha, not that any one's waiting, but still to the millions of cells of that part of my body that desperately wanted this blog to be back, well what can I say, they've got their wishes fulfilled.
So the Constituent Assembly election is finally happening, ain't it? Its been a very long wait, but it should be worth all the delays and the trouble we've had in the interim. And hey did anyone tell you its this election that is going to determine the future of our nation and even our past.
Yup, you heard it correct, EVEN OUR PAST. Looking at the alarming frequency with which we've been rubbishing our glorious history, we could see a wholesame change in the history books our children study in years to come. My favorite would be the revealation that it was not Prithvi Narayan Shah who united the nation, rather it was some communist hero. Mr. X, great great grandfather of our soon-to-be president Mr. Prachanda who did all the hard work. Prithvi Narayan Shah simply locked him up in jail, oh wait! HE SKINNED HIM ALIVE! (keeping with the new found knowledge of king Prithvi's cruelty, this seems more appropriate) and rewrote the history books. And guess what, Mr. X was a Maoist and even followed Prachanda Path.
Hey wait, before you ridicule me for my claims and try to look for logic behind my suggestions, just look around you. Does anything around you make any sense? This, my friend is Nepal and as long as there are people like us, well logic can go to hell. If Prachanda can be Nepal's first president why can't his great great grandfathe be the father of our nation? And still if you don't believe me, wait until you hear this same story from one of your children or grandchildren someday.
